Scott Fletcher

General Background

Scott is one of Thorndon Chambers’ junior barristers and assists other barristers with legal research, drafting, submissions and court appearances. Scott graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with an LLB (Hons)(First Class) and a BA in Political Science, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 2017. He received the Chapman Tripp Prize and Victoria Medal for Academic Excellence for coming first in his LLB (Hons), and the KJ Scott Memorial Prize for coming first in his BA in Political Science.

Before joining Thorndon Chambers as a junior barrister, Scott clerked for Justice Forrie Miller in the Court of Appeal from 2017–2018. While clerking Scott worked on a wide variety of civil and criminal cases, and Scott continues to enjoy working on the same variety of cases for the different barristers in chambers. While in chambers Scott has appeared in the Waitangi Tribunal, the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, acting as junior counsel for other barristers in chambers. Scott receives instructions from senior barristers in chambers and can receive briefs from outside chambers with the approval of chambers.
